Drone Safety Day 2026: Why It Matters to Every Pilot in the Sky

On April 25, the FAA is hosting its annual Drone Safety Day, and we're proud to stand behind it.

Every time we send our Mavic 4 Pro up for a client shoot, a construction progress flight, or a roof inspection, we're sharing airspace with manned aircraft, other drone operators, and the general public. That's a responsibility we take seriously at One Sol Aerial, and Drone Safety Day is a chance for the entire drone community to reinforce why safe, professional operations matter.

What Is Drone Safety Day?

Since 2019, the FAA has brought together commercial operators, hobbyists, educators, and industry leaders around one idea: Fly Safe, Fly Smart, Fly Ready. It's a nationwide push to make sure every pilot, Part 107 certified or recreational, understands the rules, prepares before takeoff, and puts safety first on every flight.

This year's event falls on Saturday, April 25, 2026, with in-person and virtual events happening across the country.

What Safe Operations Look Like for Us

At One Sol Aerial, safety isn't a talking point — it's built into our workflow:

  • LAANC authorization through Aloft before every controlled-airspace flight

  • Real-time traffic awareness via OpenSky Network

  • $1M liability coverage through Global Aerospace with additional insured endorsements for every client

  • Hull coverage on our aircraft through our USDS Care plan

  • Pre-flight checklists and site assessments on every single job, no exceptions

When a property manager, general contractor, or real estate agent hires us, they're hiring an operator who treats their airspace the same way a commercial pilot treats a runway. That's the standard.

How You Can Get Involved

Whether you fly commercially or for fun, here are a few ways to participate on April 25:

  • Attend a local event — The FAA's Drone Safety Day website lists events by region

  • Host your own — If you run a drone meetup or training group, register an event through the FAA

  • Share safety content — Post your pre-flight routine, your go/no-go checklist, or a tip that's saved you from a bad flight

  • Talk to someone new to drones — The best safety culture is built one conversation at a time

Why This Matters for the Industry

Every reckless flight that makes the news makes it harder for professional operators to do our work. Tighter restrictions, public distrust, and lost access to airspace, those are real consequences that affect businesses like ours. Drone Safety Day is a reminder that the future of commercial drone operations depends on how we all fly today.

We're in this for the long game. Safe skies mean more opportunity for everyone.
